This adapter converts one PCIe 3.0 x8 slot into four SFF-8643 ports. It lets a desktop or server add up to four U.2 solid-state drives without native U.2 support. The ASM 2824 controller handles PCIe bifurcation so the card works on any motherboard. Backward compatibility with PCIe 2.0 and 1.0 is included.

Bifurcation Without Hardware Support

The onboard controller performs lane splitting internally, removing the need for CPU or chipset bifurcation support. Each of the four ports shares the upstream x8 bandwidth. A separate SFF-8643 to SFF-8639 cable is required for every U.2 drive you connect. No driver installation is needed on Windows 10, 11, Linux or macOS.
