Vszerda SFF-8644 to SFF-8088 Cable
This new Vszerda cable connects an internal SFF-8644 Mini SAS HD port to an external SFF-8088 Mini SAS port. It carries Serial Attached SCSI traffic at 6.0 Gbps per channel across a 1.5 metre 30AWG assembly terminated with 16 male contacts.
Suited for RAID, DAS and server links
The cable fits RAID systems, data-centre racks, servers, external storage arrays, SAS or SATA HBA ports and direct-attached storage links. It is not suited for installations that require a different Mini SAS connector keying or a longer reach than 1.5 metres.
6.0 Gbps per channel SAS 2.1 and 3.0
Each lane is certified to the Serial Attached SCSI 6.0 Gbps test specification and harmonised with SAS 2.1 and SAS 3.0 interface specifications, making this speed rating the decisive factor when matching the cable to a controller or backplane.

Questions about this item
How do I verify the 6.0 Gbps link is active after connecting the SFF-8644 and SFF-8088 ends?
Check the HBA or RAID controller BIOS and OS utilities for a negotiated 6.0 Gbps link on each of the 16 lanes; the cable is tested to Serial Attached SCSI 6.0 Gbps before dispatch.
What comes in the box and what must I source separately?
The package contains the 1.5 m 30AWG hybrid cable with one SFF-8644 and one SFF-8088 male connector; you must provide compatible HBA, RAID card or backplane ports and any drive trays.
Which cable version should I choose for SAS 2.1 or SAS 3.0 gear?
This single 6.0 Gbps-rated assembly is fully harmonious with both SAS 2.1 and SAS 3.0 interface specifications, so it covers either generation.
