USB 2.0 header to Type-E adapter
This Vszerda adapter converts a motherboard USB 2.0 9-pin or 10-pin header into a single USB 3.1 Type-E front-panel socket. It is intended for builders adding a Type-E front-panel port to a board that lacks a native USB 3.1 header. The cable length is 0.4 m and the housing is black.
Thermals noise and power draw
The adapter is a passive connector with no active circuitry so it generates no measurable heat and produces no audible noise. It draws no additional power beyond the USB 2.0 signalling current supplied by the motherboard header. Installation requires only plugging the cable into the existing header.
USB 2.0 480 Mbps data limit
The Type-E port delivers USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps for data from SSDs or HDDs. It does not support audio, video, docking output, Power Delivery or DisplayPort alt mode. Buyers needing full USB 3.1 bandwidth or power features cannot use this adapter.

Questions about this item
How do I connect the 9-pin or 10-pin USB 2.0 header on my motherboard to this adapter?
Align the keyed housing with the motherboard header pins and press straight in; the compact converter needs no screws or extra brackets and fits any standard USB 2.0 9-pin or 10-pin front-panel header.
Will the Type-E port on this cable ever need a firmware update or driver reinstall?
No firmware or driver is required; the adapter is a passive signal converter, so the Type-E port will not need software maintenance or replacement during its service life.
What is the maximum sustained data rate I can expect from the Type-E port when copying large files from an SSD?
The Type-E port is limited to USB 2.0 speeds of 480 Mbps, so sustained transfers from an SSD or HDD will not exceed that rate.
