Front-panel Type-C upgrade for 19/20-pin headers
This 50 cm cable converts a motherboard 19/20-pin USB 3.0 header into two rear-facing Type-C female ports. It targets builders who want modern front-panel connectivity without replacing the board. The dual-port layout lets two devices share the single internal header. Installation uses the existing header and a PCIe bracket slot.
Dual Type-C ports from one internal header
The adapter splits the header bandwidth across two Type-C sockets so an SSD and a flash drive can be connected simultaneously. No extra drivers or software are bundled; the operating system handles the standard USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 protocols automatically. Copper conductors carry the signals from the header to the bracket-mounted ports.
USB 3.0 5 Gbps ceiling with no alt-mode support
The link tops out at 5 Gbps and falls back to 480 Mbps or 1.5 Mbps for older devices. The Type-C sockets carry data only; they do not support DisplayPort alt mode, audio or video output, or any Power Delivery charging. Devices that require those functions will not work through this adapter.

Questions about this item
Will the 19-pin or 20-pin motherboard header wear out from repeated plugging and unplugging of this cable?
The header is a standard internal USB 3.0 connector rated for normal installation cycles; treat it like any front-panel cable and avoid excessive force.
What speed ceiling will I hit first when both Type-C ports run large file transfers at the same time?
Each port shares the single 5 Gbps USB 3.0 lane from the 20-pin header, so combined throughput cannot exceed 5 Gbps.
Does the cable generate noticeable heat or draw extra power when both ports are used all day?
No active electronics are in the cable, so it adds negligible heat and only the passive loss of the copper conductors.
