Lets two computers share four USB 3.0 peripherals with 5 Gbps transfer rates and a wired desktop controller
This USB 3.0 KVM switch lets two computers share four USB peripherals such as keyboards, printers, scanners or external drives. It is aimed at office workers or home users who want to keep one set of devices on the desk while moving between a work laptop and a personal PC. No software installation is required on any supported operating system.
The aluminium enclosure dissipates heat without a fan, so the unit runs silently during normal operation. It draws power from the connected computers and does not need an external adapter for typical low-power devices. A micro-USB port is available if extra power is required for high-draw peripherals.
The switch maintains USB 3.0 speeds up to 5 Gbps during long file transfers or continuous video capture, avoiding the slowdown that can occur with cheaper hubs. Switching between the two computers is instant via the front button or the wired desktop controller. It is not suited for setups that need more than two host connections or more than four shared devices.

Plug each computer into the two upstream USB 3.0 ports using the included A-A cables, connect up to four devices to the downstream ports, then use the front button or wired desktop controller to switch; the step often missed is connecting the optional micro USB power socket when high-draw peripherals are attached.
The switch itself has no user-serviceable parts; only the two supplied USB 3.0 A-A cables or the wired controller cable may need replacement if they become damaged or worn.
The 5 Gbps aggregate bandwidth of the single USB 3.0 upstream link per computer is the first bottleneck; sustained transfers on multiple high-bandwidth devices will share that ceiling.
