Universal Garage Access Kit

The vtech 878MAX bundle provides a weatherproof wireless keypad and two mini keychain remotes for keyless garage entry. It suits households with multiple drivers who want to stop sharing a single remote. The kit replaces several legacy part numbers including 877MAX, 878MAX, 893MAX and 973LM. Installation uses the supplied screws and takes minutes.

Compatibility Limits

This system works with LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman openers manufactured since 1993 that have a yellow, purple, orange, red or green learn button. It will not pair with units that use a white learn button. The keypad measures 14.33in wide by 12.83in high by 9.06in deep and weighs .45 pounds. FCC compliance is listed as incidental radiator.

Rolling Code Security

The single specification that decides suitability is the rolling code encryption that changes the transmission code every use, blocking signal interception and code theft. If your opener lacks a compatible coloured learn button, this kit cannot be programmed to it. No other security protocol is included.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the keypad or the two keychain remotes for my family?

The bundle includes both the weatherproof keypad for keyless entry and two mini keychain remotes, so every driver gets a personal remote while the keypad stays mounted outside for guests or service codes.

What does the rolling code technology do once the opener is installed?

It changes the transmitted code every time you press a button, preventing anyone from capturing and replaying the signal to open your garage.

Which learn-button colours does the 878MAX work with?

It pairs with yellow, purple, orange, red or green learn buttons on LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman openers made from 1993 onward; white-button models are not supported.
