Compact desktop for office and study

The waitloan Intel NUC 11 uses an 11th Gen Core i5-1135G7 with four cores and eight threads, reaching 4.20 GHz turbo. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB PCIe SSD, plus Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. Integrated Iris Xe graphics drive up to four 4K screens or one 8K panel. Thunderbolt 3 and WiFi 6 handle peripherals and networking.

Thermals noise and power

The processor runs at a 28 W base power, so the small chassis stays cool during typical office workloads. Fan noise remains low when browsing, streaming video or running productivity suites. The included power adapter delivers enough headroom for the CPU, integrated graphics and attached Thunderbolt devices without extra cables.

Upgrade path and fit

The board accepts one 2.5-inch PCIe Gen4 SSD up to 1 TB and an M.2 SATA drive for extra storage. Buyers who need discrete graphics, more than four display outputs or a higher multi-core ceiling will need a larger system. For home-office users wanting a silent, VESA-mountable PC that replaces a tower, the jump is worthwhile.

Questions about this item

How do I add a 2.5-inch PCIe Gen4 SSD to the Intel NUC 11 i5-1135G7 and what step is often missed?

Open the chassis, insert the drive into the internal 2.5-inch bay, and secure it with the screw; the step people miss is enabling the new drive in the BIOS before Windows sees it.

Which component in the waitloan Intel NUC 11 will need replacement first under heavy daily use?

The cooling fan is the only moving part; with 28 W sustained load it wears out before the soldered 16 GB DDR4 or the 256 GB SSD.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i5-1135G7 runs at 4.20 GHz for long periods?

The 28 W power envelope forces the CPU to drop below its 4.20 GHz turbo once the cooling solution saturates, capping sustained performance.
