Walter SST+ Prentice Drill Bit

The Walter SST+ Prentice is a heavy-duty large-diameter drill bit built for portable drills, drill presses and magnetic-base drills with a half-inch chuck. It targets metalworkers who need a single bit that cuts 35/64" holes in mild steel, non-ferrous metal and stainless steel without a pilot hole.

35/64" Diameter and 3-1/8" Flute

The 35/64" cutting diameter and 3-1/8" flute length give enough reach for typical plate and structural work while the 6" overall length keeps the bit manageable in a handheld drill. The cobalt blend and extra-hard tip extend the number of holes between re-sharpenings, but the half-inch shank limits use to chucks of that capacity or larger.

Three-Flat Shank and SST Treatment

Three flats on the shank prevent slippage inside the chuck during high-torque drilling. The special bronze SST surface treatment reduces friction and heat build-up, helping the bit run cooler and quieter through stainless and mild steel. Power draw follows the drill motor used; the bit itself adds no electrical load.
