An 80-grit COOLCUT flap drum for linear finishing and light metal removal on stainless steel, steel and aluminium
This Walter Surface Technologies COOLCUT drum removes light metal and applies a consistent grain during the first finishing step. Industrial-quality abrasive cloth produces a uniform linear finish on stainless steel, steel and aluminium while maintaining performance across variable rotational speeds. The 80-grit surface suits initial surface preparation tasks.
The drum uses industrial-grade abrasive cloth instead of conventional coated paper, giving it longer life and consistent cut rate during graining work. Cloth backing resists tearing when the drum flexes against contoured metal parts. Uniform flap spacing prevents chatter marks so the linear pattern stays even across the whole workpiece.
Metal-fabrication shops that need a repeatable first-step grain on flat or curved panels will find the drum matches that workflow. Operations requiring mirror polishing or heavy stock removal in a single pass should select a different grit or tool type. The drum is not suited for non-metallic materials or final finish stages.

Replace the drum when the abrasive cloth no longer removes material efficiently or the linear finish becomes inconsistent on stainless steel, steel, or aluminum.
Heat buildup in the abrasive cloth and loading of metal particles are the first limits during sustained graining or light removal work.
The drum runs at the speed of the drive tool; expect typical pneumatic-tool noise and moderate heat from friction on metal surfaces.
