Each plug uses gold-plated three-prong blades that grip individual wire cores for a tighter connection than two-prong designs. The connectors are rated for 1 gigabit per second data transfer on Cat5e networks.

Fits 24 AWG UTP with .93 to 1.04 mm OD

The connectors accept solid or stranded 24 AWG unshielded twisted-pair cables whose outer diameter falls between .93 and 1.04 millimetres. A compatible pass-through crimper is required to seat the wires fully through the plug. Builders needing shielded plugs or a different wire gauge will need another solution.
