5 Gbps throughput and cable requirements

The adapter supports link rates of 10, 100, 1000, 2500 and 5000 Mbps, delivering up to five times the bandwidth of a Gigabit Ethernet adapter. To reach 5 Gbps the host must provide a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) or faster port and the installed cable must be CAT6A or better. Broadband service must also exceed 5 Gbps to saturate the link.

USB 3.2 interface and compatibility limits

The USB-C plug follows the USB 3.2 specification, so performance drops to 2.0 or 3.0 speeds when connected to older ports. Supported platforms include Windows 7 through 11, macOS 10.6 and later, iPadOS, Linux kernel 3.2 and above and current Chrome OS. The device is not compatible with Nintendo Switch, most Android hardware, TiVo Series 2, Wii or other non-PC platforms, and is not recommended for FreeBSD or pfSense.
