Ax3000 Wi-Fi 6 mesh router

The Wavlink WL-WN586X3 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router delivering up to 3000 Mbps combined throughput. It uses a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor with OFDMA and MU-MIMO to handle 256 simultaneous connections. Four 5 dBi antennas and beamforming extend coverage to 1500 sq.ft.

Home users wanting whole-home mesh

This router suits households that want a single network name across multiple units using Everything Mesh technology. It supports WPA3 security, 160 MHz bandwidth and IPv6. Buyers needing more than two wired LAN ports or a dedicated 6 GHz band should consider other options.

2976 Mbps dual-band wireless rate

The decisive figure is the 2976 Mbps maximum PHY rate split as 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz. If your internet plan or client devices cannot use Wi-Fi 6 speeds above 1000 Mbps, the extra headroom will not be realised.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the WL-WN586X3 and do I need to buy anything else?

The box contains the router, a 12V/1A power adapter, an Ethernet cable and a manual. No wireless adapter is included, but the two Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port are ready for wired devices.

Should I pick the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band for the best speed on this AX3000 router?

The 5 GHz band delivers up to 2402 Mbps while 2.4 GHz reaches 574 Mbps. Use 5 GHz for 4K streaming and gaming, and 2.4 GHz for longer range through walls.

What does the AX3000 rating mean when the router is running in my home?

AX3000 is the combined theoretical ceiling of 2976 Mbps (574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz plus 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz). Real-world throughput will be lower and depends on client capabilities, channel width and interference.
