Purpose and compatibility

This 12V AC/DC adapter is built as a direct replacement power supply for LaCie SATA 2 ExpressCard 34 and FireWire 800 devices. It suits users who have lost or damaged the original mains charger and need a compatible unit that delivers 1.5A to 2A output.

What the bundle adds

The package includes a 6.5 Ft power cord so the adapter reaches wall sockets without an extension lead. Integrated safety circuits provide over current protection, over voltage protection, short circuit protection and total power protection, while the smart chip adds overheating protection and anti-interference isolation.

Installation and common issues

Connection is straightforward: plug the barrel tip into the LaCie device and the mains lead into any 100 to 240VAC 50/60Hz outlet. The only frequent problem is selecting a tip with the wrong polarity or diameter; the unit is fixed at 12VDC 1500mA to 2000mA, so devices needing a different voltage or current rating will not work.

Questions about this item

Will the 6.5 ft power cord need replacing if the insulation cracks?

The cord is a fixed part of the adapter; if the insulation cracks the whole unit should be replaced.

What limits the adapter first when it runs continuously at 2 A?

Over current protection and overheating protection will activate if the 24 W limit is exceeded.

How hot or loud does the adapter get when it powers a LaCie drive all day?

It runs silently with no fan; the smart chip and isolation materials manage heat during sustained 12 V 2 A output.
