  • Apple logo remains visible through the no-cut-out design
  • Full access to all ports while the case stays on
  • Ventilation slots and rubberised feet aid heat dissipation and grip
  • Snap-on fit lets you install or remove the case in seconds

Compatibility range

This hard-shell case fits only the MacBook Pro 15 inch with Retina Display carrying model number A1398, released from late 2012 through 2015. It snaps onto the top and bottom of the chassis without covering the Apple logo, which remains visible through the gray polycarbonate.

Who should look elsewhere

Owners of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, any MacBook Air, the pre-Retina 15-inch model A1286, or the 2016 and 2017 Touch Bar models A1707 cannot use this case. Buyers who need a sleeve, a backpack or a skin instead of a rigid shell should also choose a different accessory.

Deciding specification

The single detail that determines fit is the model number A1398 printed on the bottom of the laptop; only that exact identifier guarantees the case aligns with every port, vent and foot.

Questions about this item

Will the vent slots keep a 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro A1398 cool during all-day use?

The hard shell includes air-follow ventilation areas designed for heat release so the laptop can dissipate warmth while the case stays snapped on.

Does this A1398 case require any extra parts or tools to install on my MacBook Pro 15.4"?

No extra parts are needed; the snap-on design fits directly onto the MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina model A1398 without tools.

Can I keep using my older MacBook Pro 15" model A1286 with this A1398 case?

This case is made only for the Retina Display model A1398 released 2012-2015 and will not fit the older A1286 with CD-ROM drive.
