55-Degree Umbrella Reflector for Bowens Mount
The Westcott 55-Degree Wide Umbrella Reflector is a silver-interior metal modifier that produces a controlled 55-degree beam for mid-range studio work. It accepts Bowens S-type strobes including the FJ250, FJ400, FJ400 II, FJ400-SE and FJ800 units. An integrated umbrella-rod cutout allows simultaneous use of umbrella modifiers.
Upgrade from bare-bulb or wide spill
Replacing an open reflector or bare flash head, this unit narrows output to a defined 55-degree circle with minimal fall-off. The jump is worth it when a shooter needs a crisp edge between lit and unlit areas for portraiture or product photography. Four snap-in honeycomb grids at 10, 20, 30 and 40 degrees tighten the beam further for selective highlighting.
Snap-in grids and umbrella slot
Installation is a simple twist-lock onto any Bowens S-type mount followed by pressing the desired grid into the front recess until it seats. The most common issue is forgetting to remove a grid before stacking an umbrella, which blocks the rod cutout. Grids are metal and can dent if dropped, so store them in the supplied pouch between sessions.

Questions about this item
Does the 55-degree wide umbrella reflector require a Bowens S-type mount to attach to my strobe?
Yes, it attaches directly to any Bowens S-type mount strobe such as the FJ800, FJ400, FJ400 II, FJ400-SE or FJ250.
How do I install the 10, 20, 30 and 40-degree honeycomb grids, and what is the common mistake?
Snap the chosen grid into the front of the reflector; the step people miss is ensuring the grid seats fully flush so light does not leak around the edges.
Will the silver interior finish or the metal housing need replacement after heavy studio use?
The all-metal construction and silver interior are built for durability; no routine replacement of the reflector or grids is required under normal professional use.
