400Ws Strobe Kit for Sony Shooters
The Westcott FJ400 II kit delivers 400Ws of flash power adjustable across a 9-stop range from 1.56 to 400Ws. It includes the FJ-X3 S wireless trigger built for Sony cameras and a backpack for transport. Interchangeable batteries provide flexible AC or DC operation for studio and location work.
Recycle Speed and Colour Stability
On DC battery power the strobe recycles in 0.01 to 0.9 seconds, keeping pace with rapid sequences. Colour temperature holds at 5500K ±150K in Normal and TTL modes and at 5500K ±300K in high-speed sync. An OLED touchscreen gives direct access to settings and on-screen help.
Flash Duration and Creative Mask Upgrade
Normal mode offers durations from 1/200 to 1/6540s while Freeze mode reaches 1/220 to 1/10800s (t0.1) for motion control. The Creative Mask function lets you program up to six lighting combinations without moving the heads. Photographers who need more than 400Ws or a trigger for a different camera system should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item
How do I mount the FJ400 II strobe and attach the battery without misaligning the lock?
Slide the strobe onto a standard light-stand spigot, tighten the knob, then insert the interchangeable battery pack until the latch clicks — an incomplete click leaves the DC circuit open and disables the 0.01–0.9 s recycle spec.
Which parts of the kit will need replacement first with regular use?
The lithium-ion battery pack degrades after several hundred full cycles; the flash tube is rated for extended life but should be inspected if colour drifts beyond 5500K ±150 K.
What thermal limit appears first during back-to-back full-power flashes?
Internal temperature protection engages after sustained 400 Ws bursts, temporarily lengthening recycle beyond 0.9 s until the head cools.
