High-performance desktop storage

The Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD5000HHTZ is a 500GB 3.5-inch internal hard drive spinning at 10000 RPM with a 64MB cache. It targets workstations, high-end video and photo editing, low-end servers and performance enthusiasts who need fast mechanical storage.

Check your system before ordering

Verify your motherboard or controller provides a free SATA 6.0Gb/s port and that your case accepts a 3.5-inch drive up to 5.78 inches long and 1 inch high. This is a bare drive without cables or brackets, so ensure you have the necessary SATA data and power connections available.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The drive features IcePack mounting frame technology designed for ultra-cool operation during sustained workloads. NoTouch ramp load technology and Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward help reduce mechanical noise and vibration while the head is parked and during operation.
