1-gallon polyethylene lawn sprayer

The Westward 12U480 is a 1 gal handheld sprayer built for lawn and garden use. Its polyethylene tank and Viton seals resist common chemicals. A 42 in reinforced PVC hose and 12 in polypropylene wand reach plants at ground level. The adjustable cone nozzle changes pattern with a twist.

Pressure limit and fill opening

Maximum working pressure is 45 psi, so the unit is suited to low-pressure spot treatments only. The 4 1/2 in fill opening allows quick pouring but does not accept high-volume funnels. An in-tank filter catches debris before it reaches the pump. No pressure-release valve is fitted, so pressure must drop naturally.

Simple setup with one common issue

Assembly requires attaching the hose and wand to the pump body; all parts push together without tools. The pump handle strokes 9 in to build pressure. The most frequent problem is overtightening the hose fittings, which can strip the poly threads and cause leaks at the connections.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1 gal or 42 in version of this sprayer?

The 1 gal figure is the tank capacity and the 42 in figure is the hose length; they describe the same single model rather than separate versions to choose between.

What does the 45 psi rating mean when I am actually spraying?

It is the maximum pressure the pump can build, so the cone nozzle will deliver its strongest spray pattern at or below that pressure.

How does the reinforced PVC hose and Viton seals affect chemical compatibility?

The reinforced PVC hose and Viton gaskets are designed to resist common lawn and garden chemicals, helping prevent degradation during use.
