Blade Width and Material

This snow shovel has a 22 1/4 in wide plastic blade designed for pushing fresh snow. The 42 in wood handle provides leverage while keeping the tool light at 2.27 lb. It is suited for residential driveways and walkways.

Upgrade From Narrower Metal Shovels

Replacing a narrow metal blade with this wider plastic pusher reduces the number of passes needed to clear a path. The jump is worth it when snow is light enough to push rather than lift and when a lighter tool lessens fatigue.

Plastic Blade Limits on Hard Pack

The plastic blade cannot chip through ice or compacted snow layers effectively. A wood handle will absorb moisture over time and may splinter if used as a pry bar. This tool is not for breaking frozen surfaces or heavy wet slush.

Questions about this item

How much clearance do I need for the 22 1/4 in blade and 42 in handle?

The blade is 22 1/4 in wide and 11 1/2 in high with a 42 in wood handle, so allow at least that width and length plus room to swing.

What is the correct way to attach the D-grip to the wood handle?

The D-grip is fixed on the 42 in wood handle; do not over-tighten any fasteners or the wood can split.

When should I replace the plastic blade?

Replace the blade when the 22 1/4 in plastic edge shows cracks, deep gouges or excessive flex that reduces pushing efficiency.
