Purpose-built cable management

The Wiegmann HS442NK straight section wireway is a 24 in steel raceway designed for indoor cable routing in commercial and light-industrial environments. Its NEMA 1 rating and 16 ga construction suit installers who need a rigid, protected pathway for power or low-voltage conductors. The powder-coated grey finish resists corrosion in dry locations.

Build quality and daily use

A hinged cover secured by screws allows quick access for wire pulls, inspections or future additions without removing the entire section. The absence of knockouts means the installer decides entry points, reducing debris inside the raceway. CSA certification and UL listing confirm compliance with North American safety standards for metallic wireways.

Upgrade path and fit

This section replaces ad-hoc conduit runs or open cable trays where a listed, enclosed raceway is required by code. The jump is worthwhile when a project demands a continuous 4 x 4 in cross-section with a factory-finish that matches adjacent Wiegmann fittings. It does not serve applications needing NEMA 3R or 4X protection or larger cross-sectional area.

Questions about this item

What NEMA rating does the HS442NK wireway carry, and what environment does that cover?

The HS442NK is NEMA 1 rated, meaning it is listed for indoor use where it protects against incidental contact with the enclosed wiring.

What are the outside dimensions and steel gauge of the straight section?

The section measures 24 inches long by 4 inches wide by 4 inches high and is formed from 16-gauge steel with a grey powder-coated finish.

How is the hinged cover secured, and what mistake do installers make with the screw latches?

The cover locks with screw latches; the common error is over-tightening the screws, which can strip the threads or bow the cover and prevent a proper seal.
