Straight Section Wireway 48 in

The Wiegmann HS444 is a 48 inch straight wireway section built from 16 gauge steel with a gray powder coated finish. It carries NEMA 1 rating and is both UL Listed and CSA Certified for indoor cable management. Installers use it to protect and route electrical conductors in commercial or light industrial settings.

Hinged cover with screw locking and 24 knockouts

A hinged cover secured by screws allows quick access for wire pulls and future modifications without removing fasteners completely. Twenty four knockouts provide flexible entry points along the 4 inch by 4 inch cross section, reducing the need for field drilling and speeding up installation time.

NEMA 1 indoor rating defines the use case

This wireway is rated NEMA 1, meaning it protects against falling dirt in dry indoor locations only. It is not suited for wet, dusty, corrosive or outdoor environments where a higher NEMA rating would be required. Buyers needing weatherproof or washdown protection must select a different enclosure type.

Questions about this item

How often will the screw-locking cover need to be reseated on the HS444 wireway?

The hinged cover uses a screw-locking style; reseating is only required if screws loosen from vibration or after internal cable changes.

What limits continuous cable-pulling through the 48 in straight section?

Sixteen-gauge steel walls and twenty-four knockouts set the fill capacity; exceeding NEC fill ratios becomes the practical limit.

Does the powder-coated steel generate noticeable heat when fully loaded all day?

No active components are present, so the enclosure remains at ambient temperature regardless of cable load.
