Enclosure dimensions and rating

The Wiegmann RSC081004G is a NEMA 3R rated electrical enclosure measuring 10 in height by 8 in width by 4 in depth. It is built from 16 ga galvanised steel with a silver finish for corrosion resistance. The solid screw-on cover uses clamps and a padlockable handle for secure access. It suits installers needing a wall-mounted box for outdoor or wash-down environments.

Mounting and internal clearance

The enclosure mounts directly to a wall and includes the necessary screws for installation. Inside, the usable opening depth is 3.88 in, giving space for terminal blocks, relays or small breakers. The solid cover protects contents from falling dirt and water ingress while the clamps hold the door firmly shut. No cut-outs or windows are provided, so any cable entry must be drilled on site.

Durability under continuous exposure

Galvanised steel construction and a NEMA 3R rating mean the box withstands rain, sleet and external ice formation without degrading. The padlockable hasp allows the enclosure to stay locked during long-term outdoor service. CSA, cULus and UL listings confirm the design meets North American safety standards for sustained operation. The screw-on cover and clamps maintain their seal through repeated thermal cycles.

Questions about this item

How much internal depth does the enclosure provide for mounting components?

The usable opening depth is 3.88 in, giving that much space behind the cover for devices and wiring.

How warm does the galvanized steel body get when the enclosure sits in direct sun all day?

The galvanized steel finish reflects sunlight and dissipates heat, so the surface stays close to ambient temperature during continuous outdoor exposure.

What mounting hardware must I already have to install this enclosure on a wall?

The package includes the mounting screws, so only basic tools such as a drill and screwdriver are needed for wall installation.
