Purpose and audience

This 45 FT retractable extension cord reel is built for electricians, workshop owners and garage users who need reliable power distribution. The 12AWG/3C SJTOW cord delivers a 15A, 125V, 1875W rating suitable for heavy-duty tools and equipment. It is not intended for buyers who require longer reach than 45 feet or a higher amperage capacity.

Build quality and mounting

The reel housing uses metal and polypropylene with a yellow industrial finish and weighs 15 pounds. A metal bracket allows ceiling or wall installation while the 180° swivel bracket lets the cord be pulled in any direction. An adjustable stopper prevents over-retraction and the 4.5ft lead-in cord connects to a NEMA 5-15P plug.

Thermals, noise and power draw

The SJTOW jacket provides oil and water resistance plus flexibility across extreme temperatures. A built-in 15A circuit breaker protects against short circuits and overloads, and the lighted triple tap shows power status at a glance. No batteries are required and operation is fully automatic.

Questions about this item

What voltage and amperage does the NEMA 5-15P/5-15R interface support on this reel?

The NEMA 5-15P plug and triple 5-15R outlets are rated for 125 volts and 15 amps, delivering up to 1875 watts through the 12 AWG cord.

What mounting hardware and clearance does the 13.8 x 13 x 8.9 inch housing require?

A metal bracket with 180 degree swivel is included for ceiling or wall mounting; the unit weighs 15 pounds and needs enough overhead or wall space for the housing dimensions.

How do I engage the automatic retraction and set the adjustable stopper correctly?

Pull the cord to the desired length and it locks automatically; a gentle tug releases the ratchet for retraction, then slide the stopper on the cord to prevent the plug from retracting fully into the housing.
