HP DL380 G5 1000W Server PSU

This 1000 watt power supply is built for the HP DL380 G5 server platform and carries part numbers 379123-001 and 403781-001. It is intended for administrators who need a direct replacement unit for that specific chassis.

Thermals noise and power draw

The DPS-800GB A design delivers up to 1000 watts to the system while internal fan speed ramps with load to manage heat. Under typical server workloads the unit runs within its rated thermal envelope and draws only the power the components require.

Questions about this item

How do I install this 1000W power supply into the H-P DL380 G5 server and what step is often missed?

Slide the DPS-800GB A unit into the hot-plug bay until the latch clicks, then verify the green LED lights — many forget to seat the latch fully, leaving the supply on standby power only.

What maintenance will this 1000W server power supply need over time?

Clean the intake vents every 6–12 months to prevent dust buildup on the internal fan; replace the unit if the amber fault LED stays lit or the server logs repeated power-good failures.
