Microphone compatibility and use

This WMtec miniature microphone replaces the built-in mic on a headphone cable, turning standard headphones into a headset for calls or gaming. It connects through a 4-pole TRRS plug that fits mobile phones, tablets and laptops. The omnidirectional capsule covers a 20Hz-16KHz frequency response with -32dB sensitivity and 60dB signal-to-noise ratio. Total length is 190mm with a 150mm flexible hose.

Who should choose another option

Buyers needing a standalone desktop microphone will not be served by this in-line design. Users whose devices only accept 2-pole or 3-pole plugs cannot use the 4-pole connector without a separate adapter. The accessory is intended for inline headset conversion, not for studio recording or broadcast booths.

Deciding specification: 4-pole TRRS plug

The single detail that determines fit is the 4-pole TRRS connector. It works with combined headphone-microphone sockets on phones, tablets and notebooks. If the target device uses separate microphone and headphone jacks, or only 2-pole or 3-pole sockets, this microphone will not function as intended.
