This WMtec unit is a new 550 W server power supply built for Dell PowerEdge R430 and R330 rack servers and the DSS1500 storage enclosure. It matches the L550E-S1, D550E-S1 and X185V part numbers for direct replacement. Buyers who need a different form factor or higher wattage will not be served by this model.

Thermals noise and power draw

The supply delivers up to 550 W to the server backplane under normal load. Its internal fan speeds adjust to component temperatures to maintain stable airflow through the chassis. Acoustic output varies with server workload and ambient conditions. Power draw at the wall tracks the actual system demand up to the rated maximum.

Questions about this item

How do I install the WMtec 550W unit into a Dell R430 server, and what step is often missed?

Slide the supply into the hot-plug bay until the latch clicks, then verify the green LED lights; the missed step is forgetting to reseat the cable management arm so the handle locks fully.

What maintenance will the WMtec 550W supply need during its service life in a DSS1500?

Clean the intake mesh quarterly with compressed air and replace the internal fan if bearing noise appears; the electrolytic capacitors are rated for long-life operation at 550W continuous load.
