Four cores each contain 30 strands of 0.05 mm monocrystalline wire, totalling 120 wires spiral-woven inside a PTFE inner layer and TPE jacket. Overall diameter measures 2.5 mm and length is 1.2 metres. The silver-plated harness aims to maximise signal transmission.

Balanced 4.4 mm Requirement

The 5-pole 4.4 mm connector carries L L- R- GND and only works with sources that provide a true balanced output. Buyers whose equipment uses a different balanced terminator or single-ended jack cannot use this cable.

Questions about this item

Does the 4.4 mm balanced plug fit my HD598 or HD599 headphones directly?

The cable terminates in a 5-pole 4.4 mm balanced plug for the player side; the headphone end uses the proprietary Sennheiser connector that fits HD598, HD598se, HD518, HD558, HD569, HD579 and HD599.

How do I attach the cable to the headphones without damaging the socket?

Align the keyed notch on the 2.5 mm balanced connector with the groove in the headphone socket, then push straight in until it clicks — twisting while inserting bends the internal pins.

When should I replace the silver-plated OFC wires inside the 2.5 mm jacket?

Replace the cable if the 120-strand silver-plated OFC conductors (99.995 % purity) show green corrosion at the 4.4 mm plug or if the TPE outer sheath cracks near the strain relief.
