Detachable Gaming Headphone Cable 1.2 m

This 1.2 m detachable cable replaces or upgrades the lead on headphones that use a 3.5 mm plug. It includes an in-line microphone so the headset works for calls and voice chat on phones, MP3 players and MP4 players. The cable is supplied new and ready to fit.

3.5 mm CTIA connector limits

The 3.5 mm plug follows the American CTIA pin-out, so it will not carry microphone audio on devices wired to the older OMTP standard. The main cord measures 2.0 mm in diameter and each branch line 1.5 mm, giving a total length of about 126 cm with a tolerance of roughly 1 cm.

Check headset jack and wiring standard

Verify that your headphones accept a detachable 3.5 mm cable and that the device you plug into uses the CTIA wiring scheme. The package contains only the single cable with microphone; no adapters or spare connectors are included.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the CTIA version or another wiring standard?

This cable uses the American CTIA standard on its 3.5 mm plug, so it matches most smartphones, MP3 players and MP4 players that follow the same wiring.

What does the 1.2 m length mean when I am actually wearing the headset?

The total cable measures about 126 cm from plug to earpiece, giving roughly 1.2 m of reach between your device and your head.

Is the 3.5 mm connector TRRS or TRS, and what does that limit?

The bent 3.5 mm plug is a four-pole TRRS type wired to CTIA, so it carries stereo audio plus microphone on a single jack.
