Two bidirectional Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 adapters support 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz with 32.4 Gbps bandwidth
This bidirectional Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 adapter supports 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz with 32.4 Gbps bandwidth. The 1.8 in by .8 in form factor adds minimal bulk between a MacBook Pro or Air and an external monitor. Audio and video pass through the built-in 8K transfer protocol chip.
It upgrades setups where a Mini DisplayPort source must drive a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 display, or vice versa, without buying a new cable. The jump is worth it when you need 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz or 3840 x 2160 at 144 Hz and your existing cable lacks the required 1.4 bandwidth. Thunderbolt ports are not supported.
The gold-plated contacts and high-temperature resistant construction sustain 32.4 Gbps throughput without degradation during long work or gaming sessions. Backward compatibility with 1.2 ensures stable fallback when connected to older displays. The adapter handles continuous 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz output without thermal throttling.

The adapter measures 1.8in long by .8in wide, so allow at least that much depth and width behind the Mini DisplayPort port on your laptop or graphics card for the housing to sit without obstruction.
Connect the male Mini DisplayPort end to the MacBook Pro and the female DisplayPort 1.4 socket to the monitor cable; the built-in chip handles bidirectional signalling automatically.
Wipe the gold-finger contacts with a lint-free cloth if you notice intermittent signal or after frequent unplugging; no scheduled replacement is required for the adapter itself.
