Classroom Electric Sharpener

The X-ACTO 1818X is a corded electric pencil sharpener built for daily classroom and office use. Its Pencil Saver feature stops the motor before the tip becomes too short, reducing waste and breakage. The unit weighs .73 kilograms and measures 12.192 by 15.2908 by 20.8026 centimeters, making it a stable desktop presence.

Desktop Placement And Power

This model requires a standard mains outlet and a flat surface with enough clearance for the shavings bin to slide out. No batteries or USB connection are involved, so cable routing is the only installation step. The corded design frees up USB ports and eliminates the need to monitor charge levels during heavy use.

Safety And Maintenance Features

SafeStart technology halts the cutting mechanism whenever the bin is removed, protecting fingers during emptying. The bin pulls out cleanly for quick disposal of shavings without scattering debris. Colored pencil compatibility means the same sharpener handles both graphite and wax-based cores without separate tools.

Questions about this item

How long can the 1818X run continuously before the motor shuts off?

The SafeStart motor stops automatically whenever the shavings bin is removed, so the practical limit is the bin capacity rather than a timed thermal cutoff.

What is the noise level and heat output when the sharpener runs all day?

The corded electric unit weighs .73 kilograms and measures 12.192 by 15.2908 by 20.8026 centimeters, with no published decibel or thermal rating.

Does the 1818X need any extra parts or accessories to operate out of the box?

It ships as a complete corded electric sharpener; only a standard mains outlet is required to start sharpening pencils.
