PCI-E x1 USB 3.0 expansion card

This YEPLOOK add-on card plugs into a PCI-E x1 slot and provides four USB 3.0 ports through a 5.25-inch front-panel bay. The controller is a NEC 720201 chipset and a 60 cm USB 3.0 cable is included for the internal header connection. It adds 5 Gbps ports to a desktop without occupying rear expansion slots.

Desktop builders needing front USB 3.0 ports

Suits owners of tower cases with a free 5.25-inch bay and an open PCI-E x1 lane who want convenient front-access USB 3.0 connectivity. Not for systems that lack a 5.25-inch bay or have no spare PCI-E x1 slot. Buyers who need internal headers only or a different port count should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does my motherboard need a free PCI-E x1 slot for this card?

Yes, the card plugs into a PCI-E x1 slot, so one must be available on the motherboard.

Will the four USB 3.0 ports on the 5.25" panel work if I also keep an older USB 2.0 front-panel header connected?

The card uses its own NEC720201 controller, so the 5Gbps ports operate independently of any legacy USB 2.0 header you leave in place.
