USB 2.0 Enclosure for 2.5 Inch Drives
This YINGHUA 025LSU3 enclosure connects a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid-state drive to a computer through a USB 2.0 interface. It accepts drives up to 2 TB and works with Windows and Mac OS. The ABS case has a frosted black finish and measures 120 by 73 by 11 mm. Hot-swap support lets you change drives without shutting down the host system.
USB 2.0 Speed Limit
The USB 2.0 connection caps theoretical throughput at 480 Mbps, so even a fast SATA SSD will not exceed that rate. The enclosure is backward compatible with USB 1.1, but the lower speed applies there as well. Users needing the full 6 Gbps potential of a SATA III drive should choose a USB 3.0 or faster adapter instead.
Maximum Drive Capacity Supported
The enclosure supports a single 2.5 inch SATA drive up to 2 TB. Drives larger than 2 TB are not guaranteed to work with this model. Builders who need more storage space will have to use multiple enclosures or a different solution that explicitly lists higher capacity support.

Questions about this item
Should I pick the USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 version for a 2.5 inch SATA drive?
The USB 3.0 version delivers up to 5 Gbps while the USB 2.0 version tops out at 480 Mbps, so choose USB 3.0 for faster transfers with the same 2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD.
What does the 5 Gbps headline speed mean once the enclosure is connected to a laptop?
The 5 Gbps figure is the USB 3.0 interface ceiling; real-world throughput depends on the installed SATA drive and system overhead.
Which USB standard does the 025LSU3 use and what throughput does it cap?
The 025LSU3 uses USB 3.0 with a maximum theoretical rate of 5 Gbps, backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1.
