Tool-free 2.5-inch SATA enclosure

This USB 3.0 enclosure turns a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD into a portable external drive without tools. It suits laptop owners, technicians and anyone who needs quick access to bare drives for backup, imaging or data migration. The aluminium-alloy case dissipates heat while keeping the drive protected during transport. A blue LED shows power and activity status at a glance.

10 TB capacity limit with USB 3.0 speed

The JMS578 bridge supports drives up to 10 TB and delivers a theoretical 6 Gbps transfer rate over USB 3.0, with backward compatibility to USB 2.0 and 1.1. Real-world throughput will depend on the installed drive and host controller; mechanical disks typically saturate well below the interface ceiling. Hot-swap and plug-and-play operation mean drives can be exchanged without rebooting or installing drivers.

Replaces dock-style or screw-together caddies

The tool-free tray and included 45 cm USB 3.0 cable eliminate the screws and separate power bricks that older docks require. An OTG Type-C adapter is supplied for direct file transfers with compatible phones and tablets. The jump is worthwhile when you swap drives frequently or need a slim 12 mm profile that fits in a laptop bag; it is not suited for 3.5-inch drives, M.2 modules or RAID configurations.
