Portable 2.5″ SATA Enclosure

The YINGHUA 2521C3 turns a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD into an external USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C device with a 5Gbps link. It fits 7 mm and 9.5 mm drives up to 4 TB and includes a 0.5 m USB-C to USB-A or USB-C to USB-C cable. Smart sleep spins the drive down when idle.

For 2.5″ SATA drives only

This enclosure suits anyone adding external storage from an existing 2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD on Windows, macOS or Linux. It does not accept M.2 form-factor drives or 3.5 inch mechanisms. Users needing a built-in RAID controller or a docking station with multiple bays should look elsewhere.

5Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C interface running at 5Gbps. If the host port is USB 2.0 the drive will work but at reduced speed; if the drive itself is not a 2.5 inch SATA model the enclosure cannot connect it.

Questions about this item

Will the ABS housing or the JMS576 controller need replacement after extended daily use?

The enclosure uses an ABS shell and a JMS576 bridge; neither component has a rated service interval, so no scheduled replacement is expected.

What throughput ceiling appears first when the 5Gbps link runs continuously?

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C interface caps sustained transfer at 5Gbps, which is the first hard limit under constant load.

How much heat or fan noise does the 128*80*15mm case produce during all-day operation?

The compact ABS case has no fan; it relies on passive dissipation, so noise is essentially zero and surface warmth stays modest.
