Maintenance Considerations

Replacing a worn belt eliminates printhead positioning errors that cause banding or misaligned output. Normal operation after fitting runs at the printer's standard noise and power levels. No additional cooling or lubrication is required for this component. The belt is a passive mechanical part with no electrical draw.

Questions about this item

How do I install the carriage belt on my Brother MFC-J6945DW and which step is often missed?

Remove the old belt from the carriage assembly, thread the new belt through the motor pulley and idler pulley, then secure both ends to the carriage bracket — the step often missed is re-tensioning the belt so the printhead moves freely without slack.

When will this carriage belt need replacement on a Brother HL-T4000DW?

Replace the belt when print quality shows banding or the carriage makes a grinding noise, typically after several thousand pages depending on print volume and environment.
