Extension Rod for Milling Cutters

This carbon-steel extension rod lengthens the shank of milling cutters for CNC wood-carving routers and engraving machines. It accepts a 6 mm shank and provides a matching 6 mm shank for the machine collet, letting operators reach deeper cavities without changing the cutter itself.

Build integration and clearance

The rod fits directly into a standard 6 mm collet on the router or trimmer spindle, requiring no adapter or modification. It frees up Z-axis travel by moving the cutter tip farther from the motor housing, which is useful when the workpiece or fixture limits how close the head can approach.

Capacity limits and stability

Carbon steel construction handles typical wood-carving loads, but the extended length amplifies run-out and vibration at high speed. The supplier advises starting the spindle slowly and increasing RPM only after rotation stabilises; excessive speed will induce machine shake. The package contains the extension rod only — the milling cutter must be supplied separately.
