1 TB USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Magnetic SSD

The Yottamaster PF20 is a 1 TB portable solid-state drive that connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and attaches magnetically to MagSafe-compatible iPhones. It delivers up to 2000 MB/s sequential transfer when the host supports the full 20 Gbps interface. The drive works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Android devices using the included Type-C cable.

Best for iPhone 15 and 16 Pro users recording 4K

Content creators who shoot 4K ProRes video on iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max can record directly to the drive without a secondary copy step. The magnetic mount keeps the SSD secure on the back of the phone or a MagSafe case. Users whose computers lack USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 ports will not see the advertised 2000 MB/s throughput.

20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface required

The 2000 MB/s rating is only reachable with a host port and cable rated for 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 operation. On Apple devices the Thunderbolt connection limits the drive to 10 Gbps, halving the maximum transfer rate. Buyers should verify their system provides a 20 Gbps USB-C port before expecting full performance.

Questions about this item

What USB interface must my laptop or desktop provide to reach the 2000 MB/s transfer rate of this SSD?

The host needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port and a 20 Gbps cable; any other USB version or a Thunderbolt link on Apple devices caps the drive at 10 Gbps.

If I keep using an older USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, how will the drive perform?

It will still work but speeds drop to the 5 Gbps limit of that port, so large transfers take noticeably longer than the advertised 2000 MB/s.

How can I confirm the drive is delivering full speed after I plug it in?

Run a sequential read/write benchmark such as CrystalDiskMark or Blackmagic Disk Speed Test; sustained results near 2000 MB/s show the 20 Gbps link is active.
