This Zebra adapter converts an RJ45 8P8C female port to an RJ11 6P4C male plug. It lets you connect telephones, fax machines or DSL modems to existing Ethernet wiring. The package includes one adapter and a 6-inch RJ11-to-RJ45 cable for flexible installation. It is intended for homes or offices that lack a dedicated phone wall jack.

Passive wiring for voice and DSL signals

The adapter carries analogue telephone or DSL traffic over the four active conductors of the RJ11 plug. No active circuitry is present, so performance depends entirely on the quality of the Ethernet cable and the line characteristics. It does not convert Ethernet data packets for router-to-router links. Broadband data from a router will not pass through unless the landline service enters via the router's own phone port.
