USB or battery operation

This electric pencil sharpener runs on two AA batteries or a 5 V USB cable, so it works at a desk or on the move. The cutter holder is made from tungsten steel for longer life than standard holders. It accepts 6-8 mm graphite and coloured pencils. A choice of sharp, medium or blunt points suits writing or drawing.

Classroom, office or travel use

Teachers, students and artists who need a compact sharpener for standard pencils will find the three point settings useful. The lid stays attached to the shavings tray, preventing spills when emptying. Buyers who need to sharpen crayons, very soft leads or pencils wider than 8 mm should choose a different model.

6-8 mm pencil diameter

The sharpener only fits pencils between 6 mm and 8 mm in diameter. Wider pencils, jumbo crayons or soft wax-based sticks will not feed correctly and can jam the mechanism. Check your pencil size before buying.

Questions about this item

How much noise and heat does the JY-029 produce when used continuously for a full school day?

The sharpener runs on two AA batteries or a 5 V 2 A USB supply, so power draw is low and the motor generates only a quiet hum with no noticeable heat build-up during extended use.

What extra items must I already have before the JY-029 will operate?

You need either two LR6 alkaline AA batteries or a USB power adapter that delivers 5 V at 2 A; neither batteries nor the USB plug are included in the box.

Will the JY-029 sharpen the same 6–8 mm graphite and coloured pencils I already own, such as Prismacolor or Derwent?

Yes, the three-mode selector handles standard 6–8 mm No.2 graphite pencils and popular coloured brands like Prismacolor, Derwent, Faber-Castell and Koh-I-Noor, though very soft leads or crayons are not recommended.
