1/2 hp 230 V Submersible Effluent Pump
The Zoeller E98 is a cast iron bodied submersible pump designed to move effluent from septic tanks or lift stations. It operates on single phase 230 V AC power at 60 Hz and draws 4.7 A during operation. The thermoplastic impeller and carbon ceramic shaft seal are built for liquid waste handling.
No switch included means separate control required
The pump ships without any float switch or electrical switch connection. Installers must supply and wire a compatible control device to automate operation. This allows the pump to be paired with any switch type suited to the specific sump layout and level sensing needs.
Suits septic effluent transfer
It fits residential or light commercial systems where a 1/2 hp unit meets the required flow at 10 to 20 ft of head. The 18 in minimum pit diameter and water depth set the physical installation envelope. Buyers needing an integrated switch or higher head capacity should look at other models.

Questions about this item
How often should the carbon-ceramic shaft seal be inspected or replaced?
The pump uses a carbon and ceramic shaft seal; inspect it annually and replace if leakage appears around the motor housing.
At what head does the flow drop below 30 gpm?
At 20 ft of head the flow is 25 gpm, and the maximum head is 23 ft where flow reaches zero.
How hot does the motor housing get during continuous 230 V operation?
The 4.7 A motor is rated for continuous duty at 230 V; the cast-iron body dissipates heat into the surrounding effluent during all-day runs.
