Purpose and Audience

The Zoom Waterproof Orienteering Compass is a compact navigation tool built for hikers, campers, scouts and backpackers who need a reliable direction finder. Its adjustable rope allows it to be worn around the neck or tucked into a pocket for quick access. The yellow colour improves visibility in low light or dense foliage.

Sustained Outdoor Use

The waterproof construction protects the internal mechanism during rain, river crossings or high humidity without fogging the capsule. A tilt-adjustment function keeps the needle swinging freely on uneven ground, so readings stay consistent during long treks. The magnifier and clear scale markings help users plot precise bearings on topographic maps over extended sessions.

Interface and Environmental Limits

The compass relies entirely on the Earth's magnetic field and requires no batteries, signals or satellite connectivity to operate. Accuracy can be affected by nearby ferrous metal, high-voltage lines or strong local magnetic anomalies. It is designed for land and near-shore marine navigation but is not rated for precision surveying or prolonged submersion under pressure.
