Chisel Soldering Tip for Bag Sealing

The Zoro Select chisel soldering tip is designed for heat-sealing low-density polyethylene bags up to 13 inches wide and 24 inches long. It suits packaging lines, warehouses and repair shops that need consistent seals on flat-bottomed, open-top bags without a hang hole.

Limits of the Two-Mil Polyethylene Standard

At two mil thickness the material melts quickly, so the tip temperature must be controlled to avoid burn-through or weak seams. The chisel profile distributes heat evenly across the 24-inch seal length, but it cannot compensate for contaminated surfaces or bags that exceed the specified width.

Upgrade from Basic Flat-Iron Sealers

This tip replaces generic flat irons that leave uneven seals on 500-count case packs of FDA-compliant bags. The jump is worth it when production volume demands repeatable, regulation-ready closures and the operator needs a tool shaped for the full bag width.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 24 in by 13 in size or a different dimension?

The bags measure 24 in long and 13 in wide with a 2 mil thickness, supplied in a 500 pack.

What does the 2 mil thickness mean when I am using these bags?

At 2 mil the low-density polyethylene film is lightweight yet strong enough for general-purpose packing and storage.

How does the open-top closure affect sealing?

The open-top design leaves the 24 in seal length free for heat sealing, tying or taping as needed.
