5/16"-24 Grade 5 Hex Nuts

These Zoro Select hex nuts are manufactured from Grade 5 steel with a black oxide finish. The pack contains one hundred pieces for production or maintenance use. They suit automotive, industrial and general assembly tasks that require a standard UNF fine thread.

UNF 5/16"-24 thread specification

The nuts feature a 5/16 inch diameter with twenty-four threads per inch in a right-hand UNF pattern. This fine-pitch thread is the critical dimension for mating with matching bolts or studs. Verify the thread call-out before ordering to ensure compatibility.

One hundred-piece pack capacity

The box supplies one hundred nuts, covering repeated installations or small production runs. Grade 5 steel with a Rockwell hardness of C19 to C30 handles typical clamping loads for this size. The pack will not cover large-volume assembly lines without reorder.

Questions about this item

What does the Grade 5 rating mean once the nut is installed?

Grade 5 indicates a Rockwell hardness of C19 to C30, providing medium-strength clamping for automotive and general machinery.

How does the UNF 5/16"-24 thread affect compatibility?

The Unified National Fine thread has 24 threads per inch, so it only mates with matching UNF bolts or studs, not coarse-thread hardware.

What clearance does the 1/2 in hex width and 17/64 in height need?

A 1/2 in wrench or socket fits the flats, and the 17/64 in height sits low in assemblies with limited overhead space.
