Xbox 360 Games and Accessories

Xbox 360 discs on newer Xbox consoles: what carries over

The listings here are for the Xbox 360 generation. A 360 disc runs on a 360 console, and a selection of 360 titles also runs on Xbox One and Series consoles through backward compatibility, but not every title is on that list. Original Xbox discs are a different generation again. Check a title against the compatibility list before relying on a newer console to play it.

Kinect games use the Kinect sensor. The Kinect compatible field shows whether a title supports it, and some games require it, so confirm that before choosing if you have no sensor. Rating labels from E for Everyone to M for Mature are printed on the case. Music and party games may need instruments or microphones, so check what the listing includes.

Headsets and other accessories for the 360 generation

Headsets for the 360 came as wired sets that connect through the controller and as wireless amplified types that use a transmitter. The wireless stereo headset in this range is made for the 360 and not for current consoles, whose wireless link is different. Treat any accessory as generation-specific: batteries, chargers and cables for 360 pads do not suit current controllers.

Questions about Xbox 360 Games and Accessories

Will my Xbox 360 game work on an Xbox Series X?

Only if the title is on the console maker's backward-compatibility list, and then the disc is needed to start a download. Many 360 games are not supported. Check the exact title against the list before relying on a newer console.

Do I need Kinect to play every game labeled Kinect compatible?

Not necessarily. Some titles require the sensor, while others support it as an option alongside a controller. The listing wording and the game's case tell you which, so confirm before relying on motion control.

Can I use a 360 headset on a newer Xbox?

Wireless 360 headsets use an older link that current consoles do not support, and wired ones use plugs that may not match the newer controller. Look for headsets whose listing names your console.
