High-temperature polyimide tape rated from −40 °F to 311 °F, 1 in wide by 36 yd long
3M 1205 amber tape uses a polyimide film backing with acrylic adhesive for reliable electrical insulation. It suits technicians and engineers who need consistent performance during soldering, masking or coil wrapping tasks. The continuous roll format supports both manual and automated dispensing workflows.
The tape maintains adhesion and dielectric strength across a wide thermal window without melting or leaving residue. Acrylic adhesive resists solvent exposure and remains stable during reflow cycles. No voltage rating is assigned, so users must validate suitability for each specific circuit.
A continuous single-sided construction simplifies tear-off and reduces waste during repetitive applications. The amber colour allows visual inspection of underlying traces or components. Build quality reflects 3M manufacturing standards for cleanroom-compatible materials.

Clean the surface, then unroll the 36 yd tape slowly while pressing firmly with a roller or thumb from the centre outward to push air out before the acrylic adhesive sets.
Replace it once the amber polyimide film darkens, cracks or loses adhesion after exposure beyond the -40 °F to 311 °F performance range.
The acrylic adhesive and polyimide backing are rated to 311 °F; sustained use above that limit causes the tape to break down first.
