What this product is

The 3M 17047 Command Sawtooth Sticky Nail Hanger is a damage-free adhesive hanger for sawtooth, D-ring and keyhole frames. It includes one hanger, two large strips and two sets of mini strips. The clear hanger holds up to 5 lb and fits frames up to 11 x 17 inches.

Who it suits and who it does not

Renters and homeowners who want to hang pictures without nails or holes will find this kit convenient. It is not suited for frames heavier than 5 lb or larger than 11 x 17 inches. Buyers who need a permanent mechanical fixing should look at a different mounting method.

Deciding specification — load rating

The 5 lb load rating is the single figure that decides whether this hanger matches your frame. Check the weight of the artwork before buying. The included strips work on painted walls, wood, tile and other smooth surfaces.

Questions about this item

Will the adhesive strips lose their grip over time and need replacing?

The pack includes two large strips and two sets of mini strips so you can reapply the hanger if the original adhesive wears out.

What is the maximum frame size the hanger can support before it becomes unstable?

The hanger is rated for frames up to 11" x 17" and a load of 5 lb; exceeding those dimensions risks the adhesive failing first.

Does the adhesive leave residue or damage paint when the hanger is removed after long-term use?

Command adhesive is designed to remove cleanly without residue or surface damage when the tab is pulled slowly along the wall.
