3M 3437-PRD Masking Tape .94" x 20 yds Red

What this tape does and who uses it

3M Scotch 3437-PRD is a red masking tape roll measuring .94 inches wide by 20 yards long. It tears cleanly by hand and accepts pen or pencil writing for labels, colour-coding and decorative borders. Teachers, crafters and home organisers use it for classroom displays, scrapbooking, gift wrapping and STEM activities. Buyers needing heavy-duty sealing or permanent adhesion should choose a different product.

Limits of masking tape adhesion

The tape removes cleanly without residue on most surfaces, but the supplier advises testing a small piece for two weeks before committing to high-value or delicate items. Adhesion strength increases the longer the tape remains in place, so long-term masking on painted walls, wallpaper or fine finishes may leave marks or lift material. It is not designed for outdoor weather exposure or structural bonding.

Simple hand-tear application

No dispenser is required because the tape tears straight and cleanly by hand, making it quick to use for labelling jars, framing artwork or bundling cords. The writable surface works with ballpoint pens, markers and pencils. The main issue users report is accidental stretching when pulling too fast, which can narrow the tape width and weaken the edge.
