Medium-wall EPDM rubber cold-shrink tube covers 2/0 AWG to 250 MCM wire, shrinking from 1.18 in to .55 in over 9 in length, rated to 1,000 V and 194 °F
3M 8426-9 is a cold-shrink EPDM rubber tube made for electricians who need to insulate or splice cables sized 2/0 AWG to 250 MCM. It arrives expanded and shrinks in place without a heat tool, making it practical for field work where open flame is not allowed.
The tube ships with a 1.18 in inner diameter and shrinks down to .55 in, so it only works when the cable or connector falls inside that range. If the conductor is larger than 1.18 in or smaller than .55 in after shrinking, this part will not seal correctly.
Installation is a simple push-on action: remove the core and the tube contracts around the joint. Because it is not flame-retardant and has no adhesive lining, it must not be used where fire rating or a bonded seal are required.
