Yellow reflective tape for outdoor marking

This 3M 983-71 tape uses a retroreflective microprismatic backing with an acrylic adhesive. The yellow colour provides high visibility in low-light conditions. Each strip measures nine inches long by two inches wide. The pack contains five pieces for multiple applications.

Microprismatic backing

The microprismatic construction reflects light efficiently across a wide angle. Acrylic adhesive bonds to stainless steel at six pounds per inch and to degreased aluminium at 5.3 pounds per inch. Adhesion to aluminum rail, prepainted panel and Tedlar is 3.5, 3.0 and 3.0 pounds per inch respectively. The 18 mil thickness resists tearing during handling and service.

18 mil thickness decides suitability for rough

At eighteen mils the tape conforms to moderately textured metal while maintaining structural integrity. Thinner films may lift on riveted or corroded panels; thicker grades add unnecessary stiffness for flat-sign work.
