What it is and who it's for

The 3M C38-BK is a desktop tape dispenser with a weighted, non-skid base that stays in place during one-handed use. It accepts standard refill rolls with a 1-inch core and features a high-quality cutting blade. The black finish suits home offices, classrooms and workplaces. This unit ships without tape included.

Behaviour under sustained use

The weighted base prevents the dispenser from sliding across the desk during repeated dispensing. The cutting blade is designed to last for years through roll after roll of Scotch brand tape. Users can refill continuously to reduce waste. The sturdy construction supports daily tasks such as fixing, wrapping and shipping.

Deciding specification: 1-inch core compatibility

This dispenser only works with tape refills that use a 1-inch core. Buyers who have rolls with a different core size will need a different dispenser. It is compatible with Scotch Magic Tape, Gift-Wrap Tape and Super-Hold Tape among other 1-inch core options. Verify your tape roll specifications before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Does the weighted non-skid base keep the dispenser quiet and stable during long sessions of repeated one-handed tearing?

The weighted non-skid base anchors the unit firmly on the desk so it stays in place and eliminates sliding noise while you pull and tear tape with one hand all day.

Which tape rolls fit the 1" core requirement so I can start using the C38-BK immediately?

Any standard refill with a 1-inch core — such as Scotch Magic Tape, Gift-Wrap Tape or Super-Hold Tape — loads directly into the dispenser without adapters.

Will the cutting blade on this model handle older Scotch refill rolls I already have stored?

The high-quality blade is designed for standard Scotch brand tapes, so legacy rolls with a 1-inch core cut cleanly just like new refills.
